The 2016 Raasay Bass Clarinet Course course will be held along side the bassoon course on the beautiful Isle of Raasay. Located in the in island’s community centre and historic Raasay House, (a 15 minute ferry journey from the Isle of Skye), and will be run by:

Sarah Watts - bass clarinet

(Laurence Perkins - bassoon course)

Antony Clare - piano

The bass clarinet course will include workshops, individual tuition, ensemble work and a chance to perform in a concert.

The solo bass clarinet course will include discussions on history, technique and repertoire, masterclasses, individual tuition, ensemble work(including Scottish Music!) and a chance to perform in a concert.

The course is available for everybody from beginner to advanced and repertoire will be discussed before the course to ensure that everybody has music to prepare in advance.

Time will also be made available to explore this beautiful island with spectacular views over to the Cuillins on the Isle of Skye.

Whilst both courses will largely remain separate - we will join forces at times including for the Island’s unique bassoon and bass clarinet choir!!

     The Isle of Raasay Autumn Clarinet Course

This new course will be tutored by Sarah Watts and will focus on all aspects of clarinet playing in a relaxed, friendly and informal setting including:

- warm ups

- etudes and exercises

- core repertoire classes

- orchestral excerpt classes

- listening and discovering

- clarinet ensembles of all sizes

- participants and tutor concerts

The course is aimed at Intermediate (approx. grade 5) to Advanced (post diploma).
